Kinesio tape was developed more than 25 years ago by a Japanese doctor, who spent more than 10 years creating a sports tape that assisted the healing process of damaged muscles and soft tissues by allowing movement (‘kinesis’); traditional stiff sports tape does not allow this. Whilst this can support the injured muscle or joint, immobilising the damaged tissue can in fact slow down the healing process. Kinesio taping works on the lymphatic system and also is used to support & reduce muscle fatigue.
kinesio taping has now been widely used within the professional athletic community since the 1988 Seoul olympics, and in the UK since 2004 by Team GB, UK Athletics, football & rugby clubs, & tennis associations. We are proud to be able to offer you a kinesio taping practitioner that has completed an officially certified Kinesio Taping Association International course.
The Kinesio tape used at this practice is medical grade 100% cotton allowing the skin to breathe, and latex free.
